BROTHER LASER PRINTER DRUM RESET GUIDE

For every drum installation you must make sure the machine is powered on.

DR-350

Laser Printer Version:
1. Make sure the drum LED is blinking and install the new drum unit with toner cartridge.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds until all the LED’s light up.
3. When all the LED’s are lit, release the “Go” button, the OPC (drum) counter is reset.
Fax Machines:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press “Options” on the display panel.
3. When “Replace Drum” appears on the display, press “1”. When “Accepted” appears the OPC (drum)
 counter is reset.

DR-360

Laser Printer Version:
1. Make sure the drum LED is blinking and install the new drum unit with toner cartridge.
2. Press and hold the white “Go” button for 4 seconds until all the LED’s light up. Note: the white go button is
 found in the upper left of the printer front. Seen only when the cover is open.
3. When all the LED’s are lit, release the “Go” button, the OPC (drum) counter is reset.

Fax Machine:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press the “Clear/Back” button. When “Replace Drum” appears on the display, press “1” or the up arrow
 as indicated. When “Accepted” appears the OPC (drum) counter is reset
.
DR-400

Laser Printer Version:
1. Install new drum unit with toner cartridge into the printer.
2. Locate the control panel button (button underneath the four LED lights on the left side).
3. Press and hold the control button until all lights are lit and then release it. The OPC (drum) counter is reset.

Fax Machines (DCP Machines only):
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the fax machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press the clear button.
3. Display will read - Replace Drum? 1. Yes 2. No.
4. Press “1” The display will show accepted, close the front cover. The OPC (drum) counter is reset.

MFC 9700 only:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press the right “arrow” key.
3. Display will read - Replace Drum? 1. Yes 2. No.
4. Press “1” The display will show accepted, close the front cover. The OPC (drum) counter is reset.

DR-420

For HL printers:

1.       Change the drum, keep the front door open while the printer is on;
2.      Press and hold the “GO” button until all lights are lit;
3.      Once all light are lit, release the “GO” button and close the front door;
4.      Make sure the drum light is off;
5.      The counter is reset.

For MFC, DCP multiple function machines:

1.       Open the front door where you put the cartridge in, push the “clear” or “option” button;
2.      It will prompt you: “Change drum, 1-Yes, 2-No”;
3.      Press 1, accept, the machine will reset the drum life.
4.      Close the front door, done!
DR-500

1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds. Display will show “Drum Clear”. Close the front cover. The  OPC (drum) counter is reset.

DR-510

Laser Printer Version:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds until all the LED’s light up.
3. When all the LED’s are lit, release the “Go” button, the OPC (drum) counter is reset.

Fax Machine:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press the “Clear/Back” button. When “Replace Drum” appears on the display, press “1”. When “Accepted”
 appears the OPC (drum) counter is reset.

DR-520

Laser Printer Version:
1. Make sure the drum LED is blinking and install the new drum unit with toner cartridge.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds until all the LED’s light up.
3. When all the LED’s are lit, release the “Go” button, the OPC (drum) counter is reset.

Fax Machine:
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press the “Clear/Back” button. When “Replace Drum” appears on the display, press “1”. When “Accepted”
 appears the OPC (drum) counter is reset.

DR-600
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds. Display will show “Drum Clear”. The OPC (drum) counter
 is reset.

DR-620

HL Models:
1.  Install the new drum unit and toner cartridge into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press and hold the "Go" Button until "Drum Clear" appears in the display window.  The drum is now reset.

FAX-DP-MFC Models:

1.  Install the new drum unit and toner into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press the "Clear/Back" button and press 1 to show you are putting in a new drum.
3.  When the display shows "Accepted" close the front cover.

DR-700
1. Install the new drum unit, with toner cartridge, into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2. Press and hold the “Go” button for 4 seconds. Display will show “Drum Clear”. The OPC (drum) counter

DR-720

HL Models:
1.  Install the new drum unit and toner cartridge into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press and hold the "Go" button until all 4 lights are illuminated.
3.  Release the button and close the front cover.

HL 5470 & 6180 Models:
1.  Install the new drum unit and toner cartridge into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press and hold the "Go" button until "Clear" appears in the display.
3.  Release the button and close the front cover.

MFC 8510/8520 and DCP 8110 Models:
1.  Install the new drum unit and toner cartridge into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press the "Clear" button, then press 1 to indicate you are installing a new drum.
3.  When the display shows "Accepted" close the front cover.  The drum is reset.

MFC 8950 and DCP 8250 Models:
1.  Install the new drum unit and toner cartridge into the machine and keep the front cover open.
2.  Press "Stop/Exit" to interrupt the error message temporarily.
3.  Press the up/down arrows to display "Machine info"
4.  Press "Reset" menu and select "Drum"
5.  Display will show "Reset Drum?"
6.  Select "Yes" and the press "Stop/Exit"
